Mmmm, makes me miss being out with the stars! I hope I can do that more in 2024. Will be easier if I sleep better and wake up feeling better. Thank you for this lovely walk!
Karen, I know what you mean about the sleep. When I wake up too early, looking at the stars is one of the ways I try to enjoy the time. The morning I started writing this, I’d actually gotten enough sleep by 5:00 am! The quiet in that hour is such a relief from the noisy day-world. Best wishes with your sleep!
Thank you for this inspiring look at the stars in the pre-dawn sky, and some of their stories from different traditions. And especially thank you for pointing me toward Sand Talk and Tyson Yunkaporta's work. I am adding Sand Talk to my reading list for my Year of Spiritual Thinking.
Susan, I just opened up another book you'll want to know about, if you don't already: We Are the Middle of Forever: Indigenous Voices from Turtle Island on the Changing Earth, edited by Dahr Jamail and Stan Rushworth (2022). A collection of interviews. Just the "Early Warnings" foreword is enough to chew on. I'm reading a preview rn.

You’re welcome, Susan, and thanks for the good words! Sand Talk is a rich book with lots to ponder. Maybe we’ll want to start a conversation about it?
Oh, that's an interesting idea! I'll let you know when I've gotten it and dipped into it.

I heard about that one, and I'll add it to my list. I'm a slow reader, so this could take a while!
