Just beautiful Priscilla. I wanted to read the news tonight but chose to spend time with you instead. I was in Maui 4 years ago and passed through Lahaina. It’s heartbreaking. Yes I donated but that’s not enough. We need to return the water to her ancient paths as you say. May that it happen at long last.

Thanks for spending time here and for your good words, Birgitte! I wish everyone saw how necessary it is to return the water to where it wants to go. But already the governor of HI (and the resort and development interests) see it the opposite way—not that the problem was that water had been taken away, but that too much has been put back! So he rolled back one extremely hard fought-for restoration guideline.

It is so clear it's painful... I simply fail to understand the neural interconnections in the minds of people like the governor. AFAIC they are simply disconnected from the world at large. They've lost that connection to life and the natural world. Maybe when these catastrophes hit everyone hard enough they'll finally understand. They'll finally get it, on a visceral and personal level. Until then, it's just an inconvenient concept to them.

I am glad that you and your loved ones are safe Priscilla. Your words are a precious reminder of how things were for our ancestors and how we make the slow, if sometimes painful journey towards healing the land and returning it to it's natural state.

Thank you, Louise, and thanks for spending a little time here. I hope understanding how we got ourselves to this point gives people some tools for taking ourselves in better directions. And moving WITH the land rather than against it is a good start!
